This exhibit of Dr. Homer L. Shantz photographs from his trip to Africa was made possible by the following individuals:
Paula Wolfe, Associate Librarian with the University of Arizona Libraries, and Nick Jury, Program Manager for the Institutional Repository Team, coordinated the placement of the image collection and metadata into the Digital Commons. In addition to ensuring the preservation of the images in the repository, they also orchestrated the exhibit creation.
Marcia Tiede, Library Information Associate, Senior, corrected and updated the metadata and added valuable information about the images from Dr. Shantz's travel journals and papers. She also developed the category system for the images in the exhibit and expanded the selection and categorization of images in the exhibit.
Ginger Bidwell, Web Designer for the IR Team, designed and created the exhibit using the Omeka software and the Digital Commons.
Patrick Barabe, lead developer and architect for the IR Team, is responsible for creating the foundation for the entire project with the Digital Commons system, administrative functionality for editing metadata, and the integration of Omeka software for exhibit creation.
The Shantz Photograph collection is housed at ARIZ (the vascular plant herbarium at the University of Arizona). It contains four to five thousand photographs and negatives, as well as field books and other annotations.
The collection was digitized by the University of Arizona Libraries.
