Went to the museum where Director F. W. Fitzsimons and Rev. John R. L. Kingon - St. Andrews Manse, Victoria Park Drive - took us through. It is a very valuable collection - and no small amount of the interest attaches to the live snakes in the garden. Venom is collected and studied and Mr. Fitzsimons has produced serum to cure the bites of the different snakes. Puff adders and cobras are the most poisonous. The yellow cape cobra is a striking tropic snake - he extracted venom by the cloth covered wine glass method. [Shantz travel journal, Sep. 1, 1919]
