Inside of dwelling at [De Beers] compound: cooking kettle in fore. They are given - rather sold - meat and bread, or they may supply themselves. All kinds of natives are found except Bushmen and Hottentots which are rare. Apparently the ration is either meat or meat and bread. Meat generally prepared as an Irish stew, and a dipper sold to them for a 0/6 with a piece of bread included. Many of the natives prefer to prepare their own food.
