Voandzeia Jan 26, 1920 Kindu, Belgian Congo

A pan of ground nuts - the one seeded pea nut, or native African pea nut. It is larger than the pea nut but only one seed in a pod. It also tastes about like a cross between a potato and a pea nut. These nuts are quite common here - have not seen the plant. They may be Voandzeia - that is, they are the "other" earth nut. [Shantz travel journal, Jan. 26, 1920]
